Maybe Aaron Hardie, Ollie Davies, Lance Morris.Who is generation next coming through??
Absolutely nobody 'demanding' selection based on shield form though.

I'm happy to trial any shield newcomer who averages over 50 but not Bancroft or Renshaw as they have both had a few goes at test level and average high twenties .We need to find the next generation . Starting to think the emergence of T20 is killing our stockpile of Test prospectsHard to figure out with no tests to play in between? The only shield player that has been banging on the door consistently for the last few years is Bancroft, the rest are either inconsistent, had their go, or uses his head as the bat.
I think Marsh needs to continue to play his game and you try to pick him while in form. Head wants to be a test and short form batsmen and needs to learn to change the gears up to test level, he can obviously change into short form mode from tests easy enough, needs to do it the other way.
There seems to be a gap between the current batsmen and the next lot of youngsters. Puckoffski should really be one of the youngsters that should be taking some of the load, adding another bat to pick from pressuring the current and bridging the gap to the next gun bat. But he can’t stop putting his head in the way of the ball.
The bowling youngsters look good, I think we just need to keep giving them international exposure and experience as much as we can in any format till next season. Then hope when called on for tests can step up. Don’t forget poor old Boland, he’d be playing for his country in most other eras.
I haven’t checked but how many test do India play between now and next test. It’s T20 WC this year isn’t it? So you’d reckon India would be on a similar schedule?
Don’t be so sureWell the won’t be playing golf tomorrow.
There aren't any, including the two more experienced players you mentioned (neither of them even average 40).I'm happy to trial any shield newcomer who averages over 50
I didn't know that Nic Madisson 3 consecutive shield centuries .He has to be in the reckoningCan't see them making many changes before the India series. Head and Marsh have done enough in recent times to be given a bit more leeway than usual.
They need to start thinking about a pair of openers though as Khawaja won't be around to anchor the innings forever and Smith probably needs to move back to 3 or 4.
Nic Maddinson has made three centuries in his last three shield matches. Bancroft still very inconsistent (made a century on an absolute road the other week otherwise it's been mostly single digit scores).
They'll probably be keeping an eye on Inglis though; MotM performence in his last shield appearance - decent runs in both innings (including a nice unbeaten century in the second) to setup a win and possible final berth for WA (they still need to be beat Victoria). He's definitely not just a 'short form' specialist and he's a great 'keeper.
Bancroft is the only one that is close to what you’re describing, and I reckon he deserves another go through weight of runs in Sheffield shield. Or give Mcgirk a crack but we really need someone who’s gunna score runs at the top.I'm happy to trial any shield newcomer who averages over 50 but not Bancroft or Renshaw as they have both had a few goes at test level and average high twenties .We need to find the next generation . We find plenty of Jake Frazer McGuirks but where's the new Warner ?
Who was the fool who said good riddance !
Maddison’s in form at the moment but he needs to put together some seasons. But I really liked him when he first hit the scene for NSW.I didn't know that Nic Madisson 3 consecutive shield centuries .He has to be in the reckoning
Score a ton for WA recently. Not an Inglis fan either ....
What's Bancroft Test batting average he's played a few tests and I think its in the high twenties !Bancroft is the only one that is close to what you’re describing, and I reckon he deserves another go through weight of runs in Sheffield shield. TBH when I think back over the summer we have been very lucky with the opposition’s inability catch the ball. Pakis, WIs, and now NZ have all let us off the hook with poor catching, 8 across 1.5 tests for NZ.
You don’t need to catch em when you hit the wickets like that.
26. He’s only played 10 tests. What's Bancroft Test batting average he's played a few tests and I think its in the high twenties !
Warner robbed him.26. He’s only played 10 tests.
Who said that? LolSo much for Smith scoring 400 as an opener. Surely that’s one of the dumbest predictions of all time.
Av < 20 lol
This will be a far worse loss then the Windies one which was only by 8 runs and due to a super human effort from Shamar Joseph although the way he wiped us out was probably a sign of worse to come .This'll be the Aussie's first test loss against NZ in NZ since 1993 and first loss overall since 2011.
