England 5-103 at lunch heading for another huge loss they need another 156 runs just to make India bat again !
On eve of test Stokes was saying how much England have improved ? Well Ben you have
In this match you were clean bowled for 0 in the 1st innings and clean bowled for 2 in the 2nd innings ! I guess that's an improvement right there !
Meanwhile they can enjoy all their trophy's the " moral world cup " the "moral ashes " LOL

Man, these jokes aren‘t getting old

What a great idea in NZ at lunch the crowd allowed on the field . By they rope off the pitch and maybe 1000 fans getting a close up of the pitch
Why not ? I remember at SCG in the 80's we were allowed on the field at the end of a Benson and Hedges ODI .
These days in OZ forbidden !!!
We were allowed on the ground after the SCG test vs Pakistan this year

Have a look at the table, they’re second last, won only 3 of ten games lost 6 and 1 draw.

Enough about England ! Mediocre at best
What about us ? Our batting in Christchurch is substandard as apart from Marnus who got 90 and it took one of the greatest catches to dismiss him. The next best score was Starc with 28 .Cummings and Lyon also contributed 20+ each .Green with 26 is obviously excused coming on the back of 208 runs in the first test HOWEVER
What about the rest of our batting Smith ,Head ,Marsh and Carey ?
Ussie gets a reliable 30 odd and needs a bit more positivity but the 4 highlighted above are seriously unreliable .Head and Marsh seem to be in white ball mode im not sure what to do there but Smith im convinced cant open and he's only there because he asked for it as he doesn't like waiting. Carey is just plain out of form and Josh Inglis is a "no brainer"
The real concern replace them with whom ?
I just don't want to give spots to guys who have been tried before a few times and have test averages in the 20's and strike rates in the 40's
Weve got a long while to decide but this current batting line up will not get the job done vs India
My idea is Khawaja , Green , Labuchagne , Smith , Head ,Neser , Inglis ,Cummings ,Starc ,Lyon and Hazelwood .
Marsh to be white ball captain and Spencer Johnson and Xavier Bartlett to be gradually groomed into test cricket
Weve got 7 months to sort this out but if we don't India will win the test series on Australian soil -Thoughts ?

Interesting comments but there is no doubt a lot of thought needs to go on the selections of our top order because as it stands now it is below the standard we need

Exactly im just trying to promote some of the thought . Just don't want to let our batting issues drift till Nov

Hard to figure out with no tests to play in between? The only shield player that has been banging on the door consistently for the last few years is Bancroft, the rest are either inconsistent, had their go, or uses his head as the bat.
I think Marsh needs to continue to play his game and you try to pick him while in form. Head wants to be a test and short form batsmen and needs to learn to change the gears up to test level, he can obviously change into short form mode from tests easy enough, needs to do it the other way.
There seems to be a gap between the current batsmen and the next lot of youngsters. Puckoffski should really be one of the youngsters that should be taking some of the load, adding another bat to pick from pressuring the current and bridging the gap to the next gun bat. But he can’t stop putting his head in the way of the ball.
The bowling youngsters look good, I think we just need to keep giving them international exposure and experience as much as we can in any format till next season. Then hope when called on for tests can step up. Don’t forget poor old Boland, he’d be playing for his country in most other eras.
I haven’t checked but how many test do India play between now and next test. It’s T20 WC this year isn’t it? So you’d reckon India would be on a similar schedule?

Can't see them making many changes before the India series. Head and Marsh have done enough in recent times to be given a bit more leeway than usual.

They need to start thinking about a pair of openers though as Khawaja won't be around to anchor the innings forever and Smith probably needs to move back to 3 or 4.

Nic Maddinson has made three centuries in his last three shield matches. Bancroft still very inconsistent (made a century on an absolute road the other week otherwise it's been mostly single digit scores).

They'll probably be keeping an eye on Inglis though; MotM performence in his last shield appearance - decent runs in both innings (including a nice unbeaten century in the second) to setup a win and possible final berth for WA (they still need to be beat Victoria). He's definitely not just a 'short form' specialist and he's a great 'keeper.

Smith fails AGAIN and in the same way he moves so far and has no idea where is off stump is and burns a review AGAIN .He has serious technical deficiencies and should never open again .The problem he got 9 out of 25 balls and looked like he was going to get out every second ball .We miss Warner but Smith moving up the order a bad call and he was the one who made the call simply because he didn't like waiting to bat

Marnus out twice in his first over .Simple drop off 2nd ball and C& B off 4th ball
Lets face it our batting sucks .In your 2nd over he was playing at 90 degrees across the line .
