Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The club has made it clear they’re after a quality outside back and I think they’ll target specialist centre/wingers.

If we re-sign Makasini, there is a good chance he’ll be fast tracked into NRL next year. Possibly outside Olam on the wing.

I reckon we’ll be looking for a quality right centre and a depth winger.

Only right centre that comes to mind is Lomax but he sounds like he’s off to Parra. Who else is there?
If Lee/Justin were still around we’d be in the news every day linked to Lomax .

We might be or we might not be
, but Richo made it clear in a recent interview that no contract talk will be played out in the media & if it is then the deal is off the table .

which is much preferable IMO .

I doubt he’s in a position to command a starting spot. No player is, but especially a fringe first grader.

Agree which makes the thought of being able to lure him from the Broncos on the cheap near impossible. He will play 4 rounds with Walsh out + SOO at the very least for a team competing.

Over the next half a season he will probably get more gametime than he would get here with a team in the running for the comp - if Walsh gets injured later in the year he plays finals etc.

Some people say wing, center or 5/8th coverage as well. We don’t need halves coverage and he isn’t a center, as a winger he wouldn’t be more effective than what we have (especially defensively).

As a backup fullback maybe but we wouldn’t lure him away from the Broncos as a backup to Bula & unless Benji shifts Bula to centers.

I think he has talent but based on our current roster and real needs just don’t think he is the right player we should target.

I donr see a strong future for Starford and Staines

Agree but suspect Staines will be around for a while. Hard to see where we get two wingers that are better than him by start of 2025. Maybe by 2026 we could upgrade?

Does anyone know what side Turuva is playing at the moment? Would be a great addition imo.

Staines at least has some speed, although we rarely see it and has struggled since his injury.

Toa on the other hand, unless he gets an attitude and desire transplant, will definitely not have a strong future. In fact, I'm struggling to find any positives for him.
Toa, 1x notable performance in his time here.

Staines is great in open space but I think we need more of a stronger guy who can finish

The point is he would not leave the Broncos unless he was given a strong indication he would be the starting fullback or 5/8 at the club he was moving to.
I’ve brought his name up a few times previously to be signed as our starting fullback, but I’ve been more than happy with what Bula has produced in his two games so far this season.

Isnt he 15 or 16?

The Harold Matts team is exciting, but man they are just kids and not even eligible till 2026 at the earliest. A lot of bridges to cross before that, like finishing school.

Fully agree mate.

Prop playing for the dragons in NSW Cup,

Alec Tuitavake

His uncle is Solomon Haumono.
Future father in law to Jahream Bula & Fonua Pole.

Alec looks like a hard running player, a lot Ice Papaliii like.
Worth a look, I think.

I know Richo has said we are looking for a quality outside back but if AJ is next in line for 2nd row..We need more depth in the backrow now.
And flippers has been bought in to replace a prop, so that means no depth in the 2nd row and the prop positions. lock is pole, sayfart or matamua, two of those would be lucky to be top 30 anywhere else. It’s well know we have no depth in the o/s backs. The only posi we have any depth in is halves, next year.
I would go as far to say we are about as deep as a puddle of dogs piss in the driveway.

Mate question for you

The Large kid that plays 5/8 and Fullback do you think he will want to play in the centre's and will he be ready sometime in 25 with two offseasons to come to build up ?

Fairly sure he’ll be the same age as Galvin/Fainu next year. From all reports, Makasini and Large are very special. You’re right, there are no guarantees but I don’t think Richo will be keen to block their paths.

Much easier to debut as an 18 yo outside back IMO.
