Roster Breakdown: 2024-2029

@KingRobbie, love your work.
Not sure if the information is already in another thread but is there anyway that there could be more information about the young players offered Development deals or top 30 contracts and this years train and trialists. Essentially it would be good to get an expanded list of the Top 30 and those pushing for selection this year and in future years.
No problem, will add another section to the bottom of the first post in the Top 30 / Ins and Outs thread.

Awesome.
Positions and ages would be ideal though this list is very helpful by itself.

Interesting to see that 1/3 of our Top 30 players are inexperienced.
We effectively have 20 Top line players to call before we look to the depth.

Though curious to review which of the Extended Squad have experience and it appears to only be some of our external train and trial recruits.

Samuel Loizou - Eels: 23 KOE games, 1 NRL game.
Declan Casey - Bulldogs: 40 KOE games, 6 NRL games.
Nick Lui-Toso - Saints: 106 KOE/QRL games, 0 NRL games.
Reuben Porter - Bears: 93 KOE/QRL games, 0 NRL games.
Josh Finau - Sharks: Appears to not of progressed past Jersey Flegg at this stage.

You would have to say our depth is very light on this coming season.

Just edited above post to include ages, positions and if they've played at NSW/QLD Cup or NRL level.

Funnily enough we seem to have ok depth in the outside backs.
No real NRL ready fullback options apart from Bula and Staines.
Very thin in the halves outside of Sezer, Sullivan, Latu Fainu and potentially Galvin.
Extremely thin in forwards depth.

We’ve definitely taken the spend big to get your best 17 and 2 or 3 reserves approach, which is a far cry from previous approach of trying to even the cap across 30 positions.
Our round 1 first 23 is going to have players named that have played less than 10 first grade games if at all.

I think we're lightyears ahead of where we were last year. These are our nsw cup week to week players, plugging the gaps of the top 30 players who drop down from NRL. Generally they've all got size/speed or both. Porter is a great get, and there's an aussie schooboy, a schoolboy sensation and a guy who's played a bit of first grade. Obviously they're all still long shots, but these guys still actually have a shot compared to the likes we've had recently. Topped up with youngsters coming through from flegg and nrl squad they should be in finals footy this season.

Totally agree, with their potential and it’s great to see we are building a more promising squad with these external pick ups. It contributes to the long game. But it is worth noting that these are the guys with experience that we will call on for depth as even our last 10 top 30 players have all played less than 10 first grade games. And even wouldn’t played more than a full season of cup as yet.

Here's one of the 50m tries Finau scored in the schoolboy cup a couple of years ago. Covid stalled his development and it seems he never regathered his form or confidence. Hopefully a fresh start seems him provide a Aitasi James type impact here.

It is a positive in that there is growth of the squad but the inexperience has probably led to the two wooden spoons. A squad needs a balance.
Absolutely, but I also believe we're now moving in the right direction.
