Wests Tigers Coach Michael Maguire has made several changes to his side ahead of Saturday’s Round 6 game against the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Stadium Australia.

Highly-rated young hooker Jake Simpkin has been named to start and make his NRL debut — becoming Wests Tigers Player #242 — with Jacob Liddle dropping back to the reserves.

Asu “AJ” Kepaoa will also return to the side after a strong performance in the Knock-On Effect NSW Cup competition, replacing Joey Leilua who is ruled out following a concussion sustained against the Cowboys.

Young forward Stefano Utoikamanu has earned the first start of his career following a strong start to the season and moves into the run-on side in place of Zane Musgrove. Joe Ofahengaue also retains his starting spot on the right edge with Luke Garner set to come off the bench after a good performance last week.

New Wests Tigers recruit Tom Amone, who only joined the club last month, has been included on the reserves list after strong performances for the club’s Knock-On Effect NSW Cup side, Western Suburbs Magpies.

Saturday will see a triple-header of rugby league action at Stadium Australia with the club’s reserve-grade (12:40pm) and Jersey Flegg (3:00pm) sides both featuring prior to the NRL kickoff at 5:30pm AEST.

Our team surprises me, only Liddle paying for last game?

would like to see M'Bye to centre, Roberts out and Liddle onto the bench, Garner to start and Joffa back to the bench. Madden not even in the 21 suggests they're sticking with Brooks. Kepaoa at centre is interesting to say the least. Amone hopefully makes his way onto the bench with Mikaele back to reggies.

Yeah.....because Liddle was obviously the problem????????

Oh the pain.....the pain.

Mate I'm done. Liddle has made some mistakes but there are 5 or 6 players minimum who should be dropped before him.

Also yeah let's not debut Simpkin at Leichhardt off the bench for a nice 20 min stint against one of the worst teams in the comp, let's start him with Moses "momentum killer at hooker" Mbye off the bench, against a top 4 side.

Got my popcorn ready for the comments

Great to see simpkin get a crack, surprised liddle dumped completely
We just must have no-one for outside backs i can't see how AJ and TT been together again seems like a good idea.
Joe O in second row, no.
Twal at Lock, we need a link man. Better to play Joe
Prefer garner start, but he had plenty of impact of the bench so makes sense
Mikaele probably had his best two games for us albeit small minutes
Nice to see Tom Amone in the 21

How sad is our depth on the edges, that AJ gets another go after just one week in reserves.

Liddle deserved to be dropped but so should some others that have retained their spots. Really can't understand Kepaoa to centre.
