The Poor Old Bears

From Fox Sports

The Roosters are the latest club to realign their pathways after confirming they’ll field a side in the NSW Cup under the Roosters banner for the first time since 2005.

The Storm recently announced a change to their junior pathways system so that youngsters would play for the Storm rather than the Victoria Thunderbolts as they were previously known in Jersey Flegg and SG Ball.

The Roosters have been using the North Sydney Bears as a feeder club, finishing last season in third place before they were bundled out of the finals in straight sets.

But this decision will bring an end to the four-year affiliation, with the Roosters to provide the Bears with some players next year before the deal formally expires at the end of 2023.

The Roosters will be hoping for more lower-grade success after making the grand final back in 2005, 12 months after they took out their ninth title.

Details of who they play in the opening round are still unclear with the New South Wales Rugby League still finalising the draw.

“While we have enjoyed a successful partnership with the North Sydney Bears, we have notified them that we will be fielding our own team in the 2023 Knock On Effect NSW Cup competition,” general manager of football programs Craig Walker said.

“This is the first time in almost 20 years that the Sydney Roosters jersey will feature in every grade from Harold Matthews through to the NRL, and we believe that this will provide a true pathway for the development of our players through to the NRL.”

Couldn't agree more....
We tried it to a point, But ruffled too many feathers....
So using this as a test case , we should be Wests Tigers in all grades.
The Magpies, Balmain thing is dead, embrace the future by giving consistency and solidarity to all our juniors and fans.

Matt’s and Ball should still be Magpies and Tigers, it would be stupid to halve our junior talent pool. Have Wests Tigers start at Flegg and flow through to NRL.

If the "ruffled too many feathers" line wasa deliberate pun, it was very good. Hats off to you BB.

Don't worry about the Bears - all NRL licences ( except the dolphins ) are null and void at the end of next year - who knows what will happen.

Just reading the article re Bears.
The change with Roosters possibly pre empting another future new franchise;
Perth, Adelaide or Port Moresby ??
Or Gosford ?
More media fodder for us to digest and then regurgitate, repeatedly.

NB. FYI I have a contact very close to the Bears set up who tells me that the NRL preference is Perth, so there’s a possible scoop from Browney.
T&C apply. All care but no responsibility !!!

20's killed ressies....
Ressies and NRL would be stronger if the 2nd's comp wasn't banished while they're turning 19yr olds into Rock Stars.

More talented young fellas would have stuck with it if they were playing in front of crowds - Instead of a dozen blokes at a run down suburban ground.
Bring back Reserve Grade and 3rd grade!!!!
