He actually was a really good player for a time, I think he used to run harder. I think you're right about self preservation strategy, even in his last year's at our club when he was still a rep player he got into running backwards-slow play the ball-weak defender trick.He is all about self preservation. Same as in attack, he never, ever takes a hard hitup. He‘ll let the small forwards and the wingers do the dirty stuff then he’ll jog it up on tackle 4 or 5, trying to score post contact meters, all the while causing a slow play the ball. This pads his stats which helped him play Origin and Test footy.
