That looks far tougher
Who was the sponsor?
I think in 79 or 80 is when the Balmain logo changed to the classic 80s logo everyone knows.Who was the sponsor?
Camper Ford?
Don't remember that one.... Notice the old logo still on board
Me too. I got 5/2 about the Tigers winning from a mad Bears supporter. Had $200 on them which was a decent bet for me, and for 1976.There in 76 when Balmain beat Norths.
Big night on the grog and celebrating.
Ha Ha you remind me of myself at 12. I could name every player in every team.I can remember all those players bar 1 or 2....i was about 12 then and full on into RL

Chris McKivat (1880-1941) played 54 first grade games for Glebe between 1910-1914. McKivat was originally a Rugby Union player who featured for Bowen Brothers, Wellington and the Glebe Rugby Union club between 1895-1905. He represented the Australian Rugby Union team four times between 1907-1909 and New South Wales 16 times. He was also part of the Australian side which won an Olympic Gold medal in 1908.
McKivat crossed over to the Glebe rugby league side in 1910. In 1911, he was part of the Glebe side which won the minor premiership however he did not play in their grand final loss to Easts. He would go on the represent Australia five times and New South Wales 13 times.
After retiring as a player he coached Glebe between 1915-1920 where they were runners up in his first season in charge. In 1920, he joined North Sydney as their head coach and guided them to their only premierships in 1921 & 1922. In the 1922 final, Norths would defeat his former club Glebe 35-3. After the 1922 triumph, McKivat stood down as head coach and wouldn't return as a head coach at any club until 1928 when he took the job at Western Suburbs, however he could only guide them to 6th on the table and stepped down.
In 2006, McKivat was named as head coach in North Sydney's team of the century, in 2008 he was named in Australia's 100 greatest players
Some things never change even 100 years ago....we bring good quality players and coaches... They're highly succesful elsewhere but plodder here 🤣
I remember sitting on the Pratten Park hill with my grandkids watching him play against Tedda Courtney and the Magpies.View attachment 10650
