OFFICIAL Harold Matthews Cup

Half time wests lead 8-0. Defence has been good but turning the ball over regularly in the last 10 minutes of the half.

Magpies aggressive in attack and defence but some absolutely atrocious passing and running means it's only 8-0. Service from dummy half appalling. So many players constantly over running the ball too. Passing to decoys rather than the runners. Shambolic with ball in hand but a few big hits and a couple of strips have saved us.

They always seem to lose their way when Ashton large goes off. Usually the same time both props go off too.

Completing at about 20% in the second half. It's wet and windy and the boys have not adjusted whatsoever. No one running hard, it's all sharks in the second half. Isdale trying hard

The ref and touchie miss a triple knock on and Sharks scouts next to the posts 8-6 and magpies in massive trouble. Can't see them holding on, just playing too poorly

the character and effort shown by this Wests side is incredible. defensively we turned up time and time again on our line, but the sheer contact and technique amongst all of our players is second to none.

Alex Isdale, Heamasi Makasini and the entire forward pack are the crowning jewels of this side. Isdale is incredibly measured for a 17 year old in the manner he controls football games. Masi is Masi, enough said, but there could easily be 3-4 regular first graders amongst Moors, Fui, Godinet, Epati, Taai and French. the workrate, attitude and technique of all of them is extremely impressive. I'm also a massive fan of Thomas Goodfield. I'm pretty confident he's going to be a can't miss prospect in the next couple years.

very excited about this week. it'll be an incredibly tough game but providing it's a dry track and our attack improves I give us every chance of coming away with a trophy. super exciting times in the pathways with sides like this.
