Good post. I agree with all of what you say. Bula does have some skills and positive attributes but there is no way that he is the gamebreaker the commentators like to gush about. He has solid pace and footwork and he is particularly reliable under the bomb and in cover defence. Good. However...
3 - Stef - virtually unstoppable!
2 - Sezer - outstanding kicking game and strong in defence again.
1 - Bula - heavily involved and solid at the back
Honourable mentions: Seyfarth, Faatape, Olam
To me the best thing about the win was discipline. We were disciplined in defence, with a fast moving line and consistent tackling, often with a bit of sting. We were also disciplined regarding penalties. We managed to play hard but within the rules and hardly infringed. This had a positive...
Excuse me but what a load of nonsense! Before his injury last year he was playing with a lot of enthusiasm and impact in the fullback and wing positions. His injury was unfortunate and a serious one. Obviously, he's just getting into his stride again. Sure he's made one or two mistakes but he's...
It's early days but I really liked what I saw in the post game celebrations and the footage of Benji interacting with his players. Could we be witnessing a Bennet - like skill of man management? We seem to be seeing a very encouraging and supportive style that instils camaraderie and inspires...
What more can you say that hasn't already been said? An out and out champion who puts his body on the line and gives 100% every minute of every game. His commitment to the Tigers is enormous and his captaincy style is to lead by example.
It's a nice change to actually find it difficult to choose 3 players - we were really good right across the park.
3 - Api - just an out and out champion and so gutsy in defence and attack
2 - Olam - not just for his play but the way his toughness motivated his teammates
1 - Bula - great under...
There is no question that there is bias in the officiating, both conscious and subconscious. Actually, it's hard not to believe that there is blatant cheating at times. I will never forget the after the bell decision to penalise the Tigers in the game against the Cowboys in 2022. I spoke to many...
Based on yesterday's form and outs due to injury, I think this is the best we can do;
1. Jahream Bula
2. Charlie Staines
3. Declan Casey
4. Solomona Faataape
5. Junior Tupou
6. Lachlan Galvin
7. Aidan Sezer
8. Stefano Utoikamanu
9. Apisai Koroisau (c)
10. David Klemmer
11. Isaiah Papali'i
12...
Obviously our halves this year have been abysmal, other than one or two performances from Brooks or Laurie. But I really think we have to look at the coaching as well. Where are the forwards running lines, where is the depth in attack, why don't the halves go into the line, where are the players...
I'm a sports nut so it's very hard to narrow it down to 5, let alone rank them but I'll give it a go;
1. Olympic Running Events (from 100m to Marathon!)
2. World Cup Football
3. Tennis (especially the Grand Slams)
4. Test Cricket (find one day games and T20 deadly boring)
5. WSL (modern surfers...
I thoroughly agree that Klem was more deserving. To be honest, when I heard of Stef's selection, I was, 'what the f.........?' And to add to that, Stef has been disappointing this year. A man of his size and athletic ability should be bending the line far more.
And the competition is not set up to provide all teams an equal shot to take their turn at lifting the trophy. The NFL is different because of the draft. I'm not recommending an NRL draft necessarily but do believe something needs to be done to give the cellar dwellers a greater chance to...
Good, balanced comments. The reason I found the performance so disheartening was that it was the first game where they were truly embarrassed after a season of striving hard and mainly losing games narrowly. All credibility was completely blown out of the water.
