CEO - Shane Richardson

Pretty sure I’ve heard he is sitting alone on a crappy beach somewhere sucking the farts out of dead seagulls.
He’s setting up his own club shill alumni, has bought the rights of and is trying to licence the “ Meet the Boss” format to other clubs.

That package includes his wonderful Dorothy Dixers featuring questions from alleged members (that he wrote himself) that he answers (that he also wrote himself).

His interview with Tim is a timeless classic but you will need to buy the whole of the boxed set where it is included as a bonus directors cut.

“ If you’re old enough, you’re good enough” said Tim, completely screwing up the saying, and that was a highlight.

Madden was never the same after his featured appearance, the poor kid. “Here’s our next Jonathan Thurston.”

And Jock is staring up at the ceiling hoping the floor will swallow him up.

Stick to the drainage and parking issues thanks Justin.

Not that I have any personal issue with him. Wrong man, wrong place at the wrong time. He went quietly and with dignity to his execution, you gotta respect that in a way.

Lee was calling the UN Secretary General.

Richo… I have noticed that one thing he loves saying…”At the end of the day…”

Minimum of 5 times an interview
Yeah, it is the same as “when all is said and done”

He’s very much a “it should be done his way” and he draws on his experience and uses examples to back his argument.

It can be more difficult to argue with because he’s basing it on his own vast knowledge.

I prefer him in him during his more disarming refrains when he shares a bit more of a more human story or a giggle.

Opening up about his personal health issues in such a matter of fact way was rare and unique. He included us into his private world. He’s obviously confident and in a comfortable zone. Good on him.

In a world of image conscious snakes, he’s just out there being himself.

Hopefully we don’t find out he’s hiding some sickly fetish.

Like secretly supporting Penrith.

I’m pretty sure his rhetoric about LO is a leverage play to the government for funding, but if it isn’t.. I don’t know what to say. As a 20+ year member of the Wests Tigers (not just at Leichhardt) all I can say is Leichhardt is a heartland for many people. Could someone DM me a email to get into contact with the higher ups as it should be pushed for. Leichhardt is a big part of our identity.

Richo needs to take a look at the costs of our memberships. $75 for a non ticketed membership is pretty absurd.

The Tasmanian AFL side (won't be playing for several years still) offered a non ticketed membership for $10, comes with some stickers. They've sold almost 200000 memberships in about a week, raising $2 million for a club that barely exists. How can we charge so much for a membership that provides you with so little?

Smart (but shady) marketing by Richo by excluding the junior membership and setting a 10k goal.

It influences lapsed members into re-considering their allegiance through an emotional target.

However all the other clubs do include juniors in their numbers, because juniors pay a hefty registration fee, part of which includes their membership.

I disagree that LO is a 'heartland.'

It's mostly a boutique, inner west, hipster thing now. Its like beers at Marrickville bowling club. I know because I cannot resist going LO games if I'm in Sydney. It's cool, its an anachronism, its irresistible if the team are playing well. Its even pretty good if we lose. I would take the atmosphere and memories of regular games in September and the odd one in October any day of the week over demountable dunnies and some beers on Norton Street 3 times a year.

I grew up in Campbelltown as a Magpies fan but ALL of my family were Balmain fans growing up. So I'm kind of in a minority of one that actually liked and was stoked about the merger as it solved a lot of problems for me. But the merger was SO LONG AGO. And LO is all about it past. I was a bit a bit sad in a sense to see the hill named after Wayne Pearce, as doing so really felt to me like it ignored 20 years of subsequent history, (and a Premiership!). That for me was very symbolic of LO being a tribute show to the past and a different club from a different era rather than something in the PRESENT to believe in and get excited about.

I'm about as Campbelltown as you can get. I have a lot of westie bonafides. I also got out of Campbelltown and established myself at first in the Inner West, and now I live in Berlin.

I have to say, if you're talking about working class, actual rugby league heartland, its 100% Campbelltown. It's not as ironically brilliant as LO, I fully get that. But its authentic AF. AND, its in Leumeah, its a bloody suburban ground with some standing areas behind both goal posts.

None of that junior rego fee goes to the NRL club, as confirmed by Richo. It’s NSWRL and insurance.

If that's true, it only makes sense if NSWRL are paying for the coaches wages, the clubs admin and management and the infrastructure across 6+ competitions.

If the club isn't getting a cut, it's a rort.

Pathways is an expense for the club.

the RL junior registration fee is actually quite low in comparison with other sports .. notably soccer.. and in some cases subsidised by Leagues Clubs … these fees are not going towards NRL membership costs

I'm not so sure on this... Do yiu have something to verify it?
I just randomly checked a couple old clubs been. Involved with and no mention of NRL membership included in their rego fees

No more so than Campbelltown.

the real spiritual home for Magpies is Lidcombe
Magpies only moved to campbletown in 1987
LO has been a ground since 1934
I guess it is Lidcombe., but Wests have been at Cambo longer than they were at Lidcombe
But Lidcombe is my era and we had some good teams those days
But yes Balamins history is much more entrenched with deeper roots
Wests had a few grounds at Ashfield. And concord for the first few years, then Pratten,. Lidcombe, cambo
Hard to establish roots

I have no connection to Cambo ...not too fussed over it and it's always been a long way from where I've lived, but I've followed Wests till 99
