Lachlan Galvin #277

Well you have him succeeding a guy who already has 50 FG to his name. Like it’s not even a question. Injuries have held Schuster back. You can’t predict what, if any setbacks Galvin will face.

I just think it’s unfair to put all these expectations on him. I was watching clips the other day of Jacin Sinclair. I’ve seen many claim him to be one of the most naturally gifted players they had ever seen. He had amazing ball handling skills from the clips I watched. Very silky. Yet his career was fairly modest. It can happen to any young player. It’s especially harder for a young player coming into a struggling side like ours.

TLDR - Nothing is a given .
Jacin Sinclair was a lunatic. I remember a game at Leichhardt years ago Balmain had a try disallowed because at the same time as we were making a break and running the length of the field to score, Sinclair was chasing an opposition play in the opposite direction 50m away from the ball to punch his head in.

Unbelievable talent but the kid has some demons and that unfortunately spilled over on and off the field.

Yeah he had a stack of talent but the off field stuff screwed him over.

Sinclair had the pure talent to be an immortal BUT his attitude was so poor it was never likely to end well.In my 71 years of life i have very rarely seen talent like he had.

Well today is D - day , our brightest young talent gets a run along with last years young gun bula , this will define what is ahead for the tigers . Here’s hoping he has a great game and our new coach has installed a new way of playing go the TIGERS 🐅

How crazy - he was born in the year we won the grand final, and is now a part of the team trying to win our first one since.
Is it really? We were always going to get to that point sooner or later. It’s what happens when years pass.

All I can say after reading many posts on here is,please dont let the hype around young Lachie being the fittest in the club be the sole reason he will out play and steamroll everyone in front of him...I wish him all the best today and in the future, but I have seen so many fittest in the club guys get injured badly and not make it back which I DONT want to happen to him....Fitness is an essential ----football smarts and absolute talent win games...

Hope he has a great experience. Just does his job and enjoys it. If he makes the odd error, he doesn’t drop his head - his team mates get around him and support him as we supporters should.

If we are truly a development club then Lachie’s success will come over time

It’s ridiculous to expect anything special from Galvin today.
All I expect it’s plenty of effort, plenty of involvement good or bad in attack and plenty of commitment and good contact in defence, plus a willingness to step up with his kicking game good or bad when required.
I expect our more experienced players around him to come up with the big plays and Galvin to hopefully chip in with 2-3 big plays throughout the game which he can build on moving forward.
Bula needs to get the ball in his hands much more often, our edge back rowers need to be good hard running options for the full 80mins, Sullivan needs to take control, be a regular running threat, kick well and our kick chase from all 17 players needs to be very good.

Do the basics right, show clear effort, compete and hold his own is what I want to see. Also want him to show confidence in those around him and not over commit. If he does that their is something we clearly can build momentum off.

He is going to be worked over big time this and next week against 2 of the most physical forward/line running forward/center combo packs. Will be a good test physically for the kid.

If this happens it will be a success, we will have either win the game or at least put up a good fight and Galvin and the team will have grown confidence from it.
I agree with what you said but,
“I expect the more experienced players around him”
Which ones are they, Sezer is on the bench so he won’t be helping unless it’s to replace him?
He’s gunna need to be special straight up, or we gunna struggle. A good solid game with a few special moments from him would be sufficient, but we need special asap.

Jake Mulaney’s mum was also on here at some point. I remember Nathan Peats partner was a member of a FB group and she used to always get into arguments. It never ends well when relatives post on these kinds of forums. Criticism comes with the territory as a professional athlete. As long as it’s not racial, homophobic or threatening in nature, it’s pretty much fair game. And relatives aren’t going to be able to be objective either.
