David Nofoaluma #164

Shame to see him leave this way. I wish him well and respect him for his record.

Conspiracist in me thinks he has another deal lined up. Tigers wouldn’t stump up enough cash to get the deal done so he became recalcitrant in order to force a release knowing he would get a payment.
His behaviour in not returning calls due to a bout of gastro and having to have a team mate perform a welfare check is bizarre - engineered to force an outcome by my reckoning.

There is when he’s become a cancer to the team.
Cancer? Strong word.
My post has garnered a bit of a reaction.
He may well have had to go, I trust Benji on this one.
But how much nicer/better would it have been for everyone involved if he had finished his career as a one club player demanding selection through hard work and good play, being an example of a good human for the juniors?
Not to be, and his doing, way to ruin your career.
My statement still stands.

Technically he wouldn’t have, he did play for the Storm after all. We all wished Nofa would have been that kind of person you describe, but his attitude has been the downfall of his career. His own fault.

Not on $525K per year!

If you're on that coin - you demand selection and provide a POSITIVE example to the next tier!

He made his ongoing employment untenable...

And can suck it!!

It is sad it came to this, but it presents an opportunity for him to take a breath and find a new environment where he can be happy.

Rightly or wrongly, both parties would have felt the other was toxic, so a parting of ways was the correct thing to do.

I hope he gets over to England, because I think he could extend his career and become a fan favourite. Maybe even win a title. I think he'd enjoy that.

I doubt, after basically missing a full pre-season, any NRL club will want him as a starter. Possibly Saints.
Toxic is such a meaningful but sad word weststigers: as in a toxic marriage  which can only end in unhappiness and probably mental health issues if it can't be stopped.

My guess is weve paid him $130k ytd for 3 months of this season from Nov 1,plus the $300k
settlement is on top of that.
So net net ...we only have an additional $100k this season, plus whatever we were already under the cap,and without one less wing option this season..but an extra $525 to spend in 25
Weve will have only one established NRL winger atm in Staines, plus jury out Naden who has to perform finally at 29 or get punted,......and 2 speccies in Lobb and the Rugby guy. who are promising but unproven
Lets take a look at them and make a decision on wing stocks end April/May
Given Staines is also back up fullback,am guessing a quality winger will be in our sights contingent on the fringe players performing

Agreed - and that point clearly demonstrates why it was critical to move swiftly to cut off the pro-rata passive annual income for this parasite...

You forgot or dismissed Tupou and Toa as wing options in our top 30 though

Noffa will be an eel very shortly , wait and see
sad way to go out , but if it don’t fit move it on , I’m happy he got some cash as he was a great player for us over his time , Eels will snap him up. Wait and see

Who cares...?

Whatever team is dumb or desperate enough to pick him up will be worse off for it...

And I agree Parra is a club that fits that profile - so it just kills two birds with one stone if he ends up there stinking the joint up!
