Justin Matamua #259

I hope Matamua has now learnt the rules as he played 2 NRL games this year and could be argued he cost us a win in both .First Parra win by 8 pts and scored 12 pts while he was in sin bin . I felt the decision harsh and lose to Penrith by 2 and we had try disallowed because he as lead runner took out defender .We would have scored anyway but rules are rules .
Apart from that Welcome to the big time Justin hope you have a great 2023

Matamua looked good today but still not physically ready for regular first grade. Needs to get in the gym and work on fitness, but a great prospect nonetheless.

Some forwards are physically ready earlier, but I wouldn’t expect him as a starting regular in first grade for another year or 2.

Birthday this week

Turning 21

Best is yet to come.
I think people on here forget how young he is - if he was playing Jersey Flegg which he still could people wpuld be raving about him

He gives us a passing threat at 13, his defence in Cup has been great and he runs hard and has size. It's his first starting game this weekend and he is close to the youngest forward in the nrl outside our club with a great background coming through.

IMO he will be our fulltime 13 moving forward

Bloody hell I thought he was 23 he’s will come good he has all the attributes to be a successful nrl player just needs some time

I agree.
I like his effort this year and he seems to be grasping what it takes now.

I'm just hoping Benji uses him right. He has to utilise his skill to free up our halves.
