OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - Official

I was at the game live, he looked pretty good at 7. Made me feel a bit more hopeful for next year
I wonder how much Luai wants 7.
He seems pretty driven.
I also think Cleary (both dad and son) won't throw him away without nothing.

But it is a huge change. Particularly at Penrith where Cleary does the kicking and positional work while Luai is the line charger.

super impressive. had some great touches, played square and direct and kicked really really well. a little to work on mainly in regards to the depth of his kicking, but that can be worked on. keen to see what next week and so on brings.

He will be a piece to the puzzle but without significant upgrades to the roster he won’t be able to have much impact.

I love the salty penrith fans who kept on blaming him yesterday. He was their best by far. Yeo was great but his sin bin ultimately cost penrith the win with 2 tries. Edwards was below his best but apparently he was very good, he missed easy tackles and missed an easy kick at the end. Their forwards were dominated by reserve graders. Add in all the stupid uncharacteristic errors. On a side note, it was refreshing to watch Te Maire Martin play in his best position. Been saying it all year, he's not a 6

Dudes got rocks in his head coming here. Api and him need to get out of their contracts now.
Api looked over it at the presser. And not just in a “we’ve lost 7 in a row“ kind of way. I detected almost a trace of disgust. How could he not be regretting coming here. He’s won 5 games in almost a season and a half. Poor Jarome better savour every last victory he has this year. They’ll be few and far between from next season.

Yeah haha I mentioned this yesterday. He was in a champion setup, played 3 straight GFs, the year he started here they played and won another, and he has amassed 6 wins in a year and a half….he must be kicking himself.
We now face a road trip to Townsville to face a team who put 70 on us up there last year and then we get a bye before embarking on 3 months of footy straight.
Tough winter coming up.

Our issue has been, and has been for some time... ;

- No smarts in the spine
- no threats in the backs

Luai and Turuva coming nest year really address this.

It's IMPERATIVE though, we continue to strengthen.

We need to be reaching out and seeing what we can get, players like Averillo and whatnot... we need some x factor in the backline

I don’t think it matters who we get here, nothing is gonna change till the culture does. It’s stunk for 25 years, so good luck eradicating it.

jarome will not be the sole saviour. It's a team effort. Think a few of our fans are expecting too much of him then getting disappointed. The team will not change overnight

No way. I used the Dogs as an example of that. Signing marquee players for 3 or 4 years and were still a bottom 4 team. As we will be.

I tend to agree but the marquees we signed aren't exactly that. Other than Ice and Api, who are our marquees? Bateman was washed over in England and we gave him a chance. He's not a marquee. Neither is Olam when you think about it. You can make an argument that Turuva still has to prove a point. So that leaves Papali'i, Api, and Luai as our only marquee signings. We definitely need more, and we need to get rid of deadwood who are so used to dumb mistakes and losing (Naden, Staines, Bateman, even Klemmer at times)

I agree. We need to poach a winger from somewhere.

There are a couple of solid first graders emerging this year. S Fainu and L Galvin. Bula last year with Pole and Uto maturing. 2-3 young players a year with a couple recruits is a long process but our only chance. We need guys like L Fainu, Makasini, Laulili, Miller, Broederlow, Faagutu, TDS ro step up next few years.

There are some positives but overall we are way off the pace.

What has happened to TDS? 5 games at the backend of 23 then dumped.
Same with Matamua. 5 games in 2023, 1 so far this year.
Both languishing in KOE Cup getting done every week.
Chuck them in Flegg where a winning culture can be built.

I've heard the so called experts (media) in the past in conjunction with player state it can be done with THE RIGHT playsr
Very hard to find and recruit but blokes like Ellis, Darren Smith, Luke Lewis, Ben Kennedy, Roy Asotasi,. Menzies... A Webke or Civoniceva

Api is.close but the strain is showing
