The Bennett curse strikes again!

Bennett focuses on current results and does the bare minimum to build a club up for the future. So, when he leaves, the club always falls into decline due to the lack internal development at the club, kind of like a Ponzi scheme.

IMO Souths would be nuts/desperate hire Bennett again. If he does go to Souths, it will be interesting to see if the Dolphins drop off too.
And literally, just as you say that

The Dolphins are currently being coached by their future coach Kristian Woolf. Take a look at how St Helens were playing when he coached them . The Dolphins are playing the same style.
Uncle Wayne would be making all the fatherhood statements and managing personalities while Woolf does the football coaching.

good tactician, terrible man manager. he'll get another job eventually, and I'm sure by then he will have learnt from his mistakes in dealing with big personalities.

lock up Bomber at all costs.
That indicates assistant more suited to his skill set, at least in the short term, than head coach.

I am not so sure about that,he has shown no maturity as he has got older just more dysfunctional petulance
I agree. I want to like Latrell, he has so much talent but he wastes it when he does stupid things & thinks himself above the game or the team. I hoped maturity would have kicked in & made him realise his potential but it doesn’t seem to have happened. There is no way he is as fit as he needs to be & apparently he doesn’t care.

Honestly, I think that is way too harsh on Bennett.

Look at Brisbane, Anthony Siebold seemed to want to coach to his structure and style. This did not suit the club at all. Kevin Walters took a last placed team to the finals.

Yes the Dragons weakened after Bennett left. The knights were bottom of the table and kinda went back to where they were after Bennett left. ..

From what I see of the Dolphins... They will be stronger from having Bennett around. New clubs tend to struggle for their first decade and only Melbourne really broke that mould.

I also don't expect Bennett to go to South Sydney, reckon he will stay on as a mentor or something.

I think dealing with the biggest personality in the game would be a handful for a lot of coaches. for example you just knew Madge and Latrell would've hated each other. even Robinson struggled to handle him at times. as a rookie coach who was an assistant previously it was never going to end well, especially as Bennett's successor, which we are all aware is a poisoned chalice.

throw in a guy like Cody Walker who can also be a prickly character, plus guys like Cook and Murray plus Burgess being around the place and suddenly you've got a recipe for disaster. no rookie coach was going to survive that.

South Sydney has been in dire need of regeneration for years, but instead of allowing players like Gray, Mamozuelos and Teaupa to come through, Demetriou stuck with Dad's Army and has now paid for it with his job. persisting with Ilias as a 7 when he was an out and out 6 coming thru was also a terrible decision. Dodd is an on-ball halfback that plays his football at the line. he will help them to no end.

Demetriou can coach. he'll learn from this and find a club better suited to him in due course.

in this instance it's on the club. Souths carried on constantly about having a squad that was capable of winning a title for Demetriou, and to be quite honest they managed it. their roster is mostly elite. what they didn't do was ensure that Demetriou was aware of how to handle the big personalities in the team, which ultimately led to his downfall, as did the re-signings of Cook and Walker, both of whom are in the twilight.

Then that is for the best. I wonder how long Bromich and co will last?

So weird that they sign a new halfback, while they're in the process of firing the coach. Usually coaches are very particular about who they want in the 7.
Does really sound like a Bennet signing.

Though, I don't see Bennet going back there working too well - unless its short term while he mentors the next coach.

Maybe I am being too harsh haha, but Wayne's victims list now stands at five as far as I know:

Ivan Henjak (Broncos)
Steve Price (Dragons)
Rick Stone (Knights)
Anthony Seibold (Broncos)
Demetriou (Rabbitohs)

Wayne seems to get the balance right between being a dinosaur and giving the players a cuddle 😉

Demetriou seems like a good guy.
I like him.

Sammy walking out and letting Latrell and Cody run the show appears to be his downfall.
A very hard lesson learnt.

Guys like Jason Taylor and Trent Barrett have remained in the game, I'm sure Demetriou will land somewhere. Someday.

Good luck to him.
