Luke Brooks #167

DCE kicked a ball 10 metres backwards. Nathan Brown dropped a ball cold etc. etc. errors happen.

Good teams defend the mistakes and get the win.

Manly are a very well balanced team and I think probably top four.
Youre in the wrong place.

We’ll need the extra year with Sullivan contracted for four of them.
If we can believe media reports at the time, we apparently valued Brooks and Bud at the same level $550k. I'm so happy the 'list committee' has been given the boot, but like a b grade horror, something tells me they are waiting for an opportunity to return. 😒

It must be nice having Turbo & DCE take all the responsibility of his shoulders. He didn't seem to mind it here when he was commanding halfback money & insisting on being the halfback.

It cant be denied. Brooks can play & always could. As stated numerous times, he was never a halfback , let alone an organizing one. Many here stated this years ago including myself but i just cant work out why so many Tigers coaches couldnt. Sure in Manly he has Olakua, atu & Tom Troboivic running off him , but i believe he would of formed this combination with Fainu & Bula this year, as Sezer can organise. As we all know, its the players running good lines ,even if they dont get the ball, shifts & holds up defenses creating the gaps that a running 5/8 can either go himself or distribute to the man in the biggest hole. Thats what was missing at the Tigers & why he sucessful at Manly. That being said, the Brooks days are over. Galvin is looking good & can only get better, & hopefully Mason is all the halfback they say he is. Tigers need to start shopping Bud now. Hopefully he will get homesick & want to terminate his contract & we can finish the procees of building this side.

1) when was he insisting on being the half back.
2) he did command halfback money, because that is what the market valued him at.
3) is it simply Turbo and DCE or is it; a couple front rowers not scared of contact, Backrowers and centres that can hit a hole and break a tackle, Centres and wingers with enough pace to turn linebreaks into points. It's not just other organisers in the spine he has lacked.

It remains to be seen if he is/could have been a capable halfback with the necessary quality around him. We likely won't know unless DCE has a prolonged absence.

Because they couldn't get a better 7 to replace him with.... Simple as that.
Any half decent tradesman will tell you - You can only work with the tools you've got....

There's been players that can make even the worst players better,
Brooks is not one of those players.
I love that because he wasn't an Andrew Johns, Jonathan Thurston or Cooper Cronk....
He couldn't play.

Nothing he's doing at Manly is surprising anyone who knows much about football....
Wasn't surprised to see him bagged here again last night...

I didn't watch yesterdays full game, but I listened to the mini replay while I was driving....
I sure did here his name a lot for someone who supposedly didn't contribute to the result.....

Also weird his passes are sticking for a backrower at Manly in his 25th game (2nd in back row)

Mate you watch the last 20 minutes of the game yesterday Brooks went missing while DCE managed the game completely. Kicked a field goal to make it 21-14 & was kicking to corners to see the game out.
