LIVE GAME Trial 2 vs. Dragons

Live Game Discussion
I think everyone’s thought our team is better than it actually is. We still don’t have a proper 13 & I hope Benji abandons the Seyfarth 13 experiment by round 2, he just got manhandled out there yesterday & if we’re just gonna use our lock as a 3rd prop Twal or Pole are much better suited to that role.

Our halves still aren’t that great… Sezer in reality has spent the 4 years not looking good in the Super League & he’s really there just to provide a bit of experience & leadership for the young lads. A lot of people questioned why we signed Luai last night is a clear example of why. Bud has a bit of promise but his defending was shocking last night. I still think with his attacking flair he deserves a spot in the 17 & Galvin looks like he’s gonna be a really special talent.

And to our most obvious issue… our outside backs. I said all pre season we probably have the weakest backline in the comp & I think the last 2 weeks have proved that. There are some serious problems there but it’s not something Richo can change overnight so we’re kind of stuck this season in that regard. If fit i’d be starting Olam & Faataape in the centres because To’a time & time again has shown he’s not defensively capable.

I think by the end of the season Richo will overhaul our coaching staff. We cannot have 3 coaches learning on the go which is what we have with Benji, Robbie & Heighno. I think Robbie & Heighno personally shouldn’t be anywhere near the coaching staff & changes will be made by the end of the year.
Wouldn't get much push back on any of those points by the majority of supporters I think. Regardpess the overall performance was still very disappointing, for fans and coaches. Luckily they've got a couple of weeks to get it together

Name one game where Simpkin impacted the result. Explain why you are such a fan? Are you his father? Agent? What's your agenda?

You have lost the plot. Why are you so defensive & hate Simpkin so much?

All I did was correct your statement on the trial game re Dragons players playing - didn’t mention anything re Simpkin.

Not pinning any hopes on AD at all -
He has a bunch of hurdles to jump to play NRL week in week out. Especially as a centre.
Firstly he needs to work on his match fitness- that is if he can actually run hard reliably after 3 recos.
Then he needs to change his attitude towards the effort required for 80 mins every week.
After that someone needs to teach him how to tackle one on one, and to read the plays in the centres.
Finally he needs to want to play there without whining about it and become a team player not a selfish individual.

I really wonder how many games for Wests Tigers AD has left. Surely they won't risk extending his contract, which expires this year. Not with his knee problems.

That means he has to firstly be fit enough to return, which could be as late as round 10. Then he has to convince the coach there's a position for him (what is it? He's been given a long spell at 1, 3 and 6, without owning any of them), then he's got to show he's the best option at that position.

I won't be shocked if we've already seen the last of him in a Tigers jersey.

He did not start the game. Never played against the full strength team. I believe it's you that has lost the plot.

Did the rugby convert Solomon get on the park, i can't recall hearing his name but i did zone out for the last 20.
I heard he played for Magpies instead. That's where I reckon he'll be, come the season proper. Our outside backs are weak but I doubt he's ready to strengthen them.

You could be right RR.
The ball’s squarely in his court. If he can get over all the hurdles I mentioned and he’s not expecting too much money, Richo and Benj may see value, but I wouldn’t bet on it. I can see him going before the end of the season - just can’t imagine where.

For anybody at the game was there a feeling they were treating this as trial , or were they over confident due to the win the week before and that Dragons form was off from prior week. Sometimes we appear to take teams lightly when there is sniff we are over confident by simply turning up

Changing the subject what's happened to all the Jacob liddle haters I thought they would be on here telling us how lucky we were to get rid of him.oh sorry he carved us up.
Yeah, happy for Jacob. Was always a fan & shame injury cruelled his time with us & robbed him of crucial development time. Hope he continues to improve and show his true talent.

Liddle has 3-4 good games a year in him. He has 5-6 bad ones too. And then a bunch of games where he drifts between grades.

I like him on his good days. He has ability. But he ia wildly inconsistent with his delivery.

If he ever gets that right, he's a player.

WOW!!! the difference in the tone of this post as compared to the previous post no. 755.
Yours is respectful (y) to the other posters opinion (y).
We are all in this together brother, no point downgrading or belittling someone else for there opinions. My opinion is probably not right and others probably don't agree but I'll speak it. Ur a legend brother 👍

Because TT, the best players don’t always make the best coaches. Benji probably did it spontaneously and has real issues explaining that, hence his need to show them at training. Some will dig it but others wont.
Because all the coaches go through the same qualifying process they all tend to work the same way( at least in the beginning ),however, with experience and nous they stretch the coaching manual.
I think Benji might be coaching more by the book, at this stage.
Even King Wally, who I consider the goat, couldn't coach mere mortals to do what he could do on field.

I reckon an extended injury free run will give him the reps needed to fine tune. I've always thought he is a genuine footballer.

We simply don’t have the right players in the right positions and with our current roster it would not matter who the coach is.
We should have signed someone on a low wage such as Nathan Brown when we had the chance as he could have played 13 for a good portion of each game and would have done the job in straightening our attack and getting us on the front foot until we could find someone younger to take over.
Cogger was available to us and would have been a far better option than the Sezer and Sullivan combo and would have worked a treat in combination with Luai when he arrives. The added advantage that he’s not considered elite, so not blocking the path of Latu Fainu or Lachie Galvin once they are ready to play 80 mins in the halves each week.
I won’t keeping harping on about our fullback, but we will never be a fluent attacking side while he’s playing fullback for us, simple as that.
It’s only been two trial games, but surely Benji’s already seen enough to know we need to do some instant wheeling and dealing to flip 4 to 5 players within our squad and I’m talking notable players who other clubs would be interested in return for players who could be of more value to us and can already see they will struggle to get in the top 17 at their current club.

That's 3-4 more than the guy we kept will rack up in his career.
