Wests Tigers release Rob Lui

Written by Wests Tigers on .

Wests Tigers can confirm half-back Robert Lui has been released from the final year of his contract with the Club.

The decision allows Lui to immediately take on a two-year deal with the North Queensland Cowboys.

Born in Townsville, Lui made his first grade debut for the Club at the end of 2009 and played 43 games for Wests Tigers.

“Robert grew up in North Queensland and we believe he will benefit from the strong family support available to him in Townsville," said Wests Tigers Chief Executive Stephen Humphreys.

"He is a very talented football player and leaves with our best wishes for the future."

Tigers set to shut doors to Leichhardt

Written by Brad Walters on .

WESTS TIGERS boss Stephen Humphreys believes matches at Leichhardt Oval are set to become member-only affairs as the club's round one match against Cronulla heads for a sell-out without tickets going on sale to the general public.

With huge interest in the March 4 clash, the club yesterday launched a special one-game membership package for the match and Humphreys said the sales had been phenomenal.

''We have had our biggest day of membership sales today,'' he said last night. ''We will see how they go over the next few days and if they are not all gone we will put some tickets on public sale later in the week but at this stage the response has been terrific.''

Asked what Sharks supporters wanting to see the anticipated clash between Benji Marshall and Todd Carney could do if Tigers members bought all the tickets, Humphreys said: ''They'll have to watch it on Foxtel or Channel Nine.''

Moltzen move not certain

Written by WestsTigersForum.com on .

Wests Tigers this evening issued the following statement in regards to today's rumour that Tim Moltzen was seeking to stay at Wests Tigers for 2012:

Whilst it was announced earlier this year by St George-Illawarra Dragons that Tim had signed a new contract with them to commence in 2012, Wests Tigers has not granted him a release from his existing contract with the Club that expires at the end of next season.

The matter is ongoing and the Club will work with Tim’s Manager and the Dragons to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

This comes after the Dragons this afternoon issued the following statement:

St George Illawarra Dragons CEO Peter Doust On Wednesday issued the following regarding the signing of Tim Moltzen:

"Tim Moltzen and his Manager have signed a three-year deal with the Dragons," said Doust.

"We have not had any conversations or received any other information from either Tim or his Manager that would suggest he would not be at the Dragons in 2012."
