David Trodden inducted as Balmain Leagues Club Life Member
David Trodden, Chairman of Balmain Tigers Rugby League Football Club was inducted as a Life Member of Balmain Leagues Club, at the Annual General Meeting at TIGERS Five Dock, Sunday 27 March, 2011.
David has devoted himself tirelessly to the Balmain Tigers and Wests Tigers for many years. Having grown up a Balmain Boy, it was a natural step for David when he joined the Balmain Tigers board in 1999. He has proceeded to lead as Chairman since 2002. David also serves on the Wests Tigers Board of Directors and has successfully chaired the Wests Tigers board (alternately with Wests Magpies) since 2004.
David Trodden has a fierce commitment to the Tigers and can often be seen at every grade match over each weekend. David has been an instrumental personality in all milestone events for the business (and there have been a few) spanning more than a decade.
He was one of the first Wests Tigers board members after working extremely hard to ensure the merger between Western Suburbs and Balmain Tigers was both successful on and off the field.
David, as Balmain Tigers Chairman, has been a driving force behind the redevelopment plans and negotiations at the Rozelle site. He has also worked determinedly to secure the successful openings of two new Tigers venues, TIGERS Five Dock and TIGERS Sydney Markets just under 12 months ago.
David's commitment to the Balmain Tigers organisation continues to be awe-inspiring.
Not only does David Trodden dedicate his time and experience to the Tigers but he also owns and operates a very successful legal firm in Balmain, DTA Lawyers. Many would find the legal profession an all encompassing commitment in itself, but somehow, David seems to "find 30 hours in 24" as eloquently put by Mr John Pearson, fellow board member and Chairman of Sydney Markets, in his nomination speech.
"David dedicates his passion, time and expertise to the Tigers endlessly. The club is all the better for having a leader like David. I personally consider him a very good friend".
The motion for David's life membership was seconded by fellow Tigers Director Dr Leslie Glen. Dr Glen stated "David tirelessly works for the club and gives of his time with extreme generosity".
President Kevin Rooney cemented the honour and awarded David his membership "...thank you for everything you have done for our great club".
A moved David Trodden accepted his place as the most recent Balmain Life Member (an exclusive group of just 6). "This is a great privilege, I feel the one who is honoured to be able to work with and develop such great friendships with those on the board and you people. It is one of the greatest privileges of my life. Thank you"
