tuqiri_humphWhilst there was an buzz of eager anticipation around the internet throughout the morning, just after 3pm Wests Tigers finally confirmed the worst kept secret of the summer: Lote Tuqiri had signed!
The deal, believed to be a back-ended $400,000 contract topped up by a third party sponsor (X-Blades), will see the dual international at the club until the end of 2012. WestsTigersForum.com understands that the bulk of the arrangement had been agreed upon back in October, however final confirmation from Tuqiri was finally secured by Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys on Wednesday night in Leicester, UK. Meanwhile, the cause of some of the delays has been revealed as being an issue with the third party sponsor X-Blades who, according the Sydney Morning Herald, threatened to pull out of the deal.

The club wasted no time in utilising the full marketing potential of Tuqiri, who is arguably one of the most recognised sports players in Australia, by updated their website and sending out a SMS message "from Lote" to fans urging them to sign up as members. The official Wests Tigers website splash-page was also updated to include a picture of Tuqiri with the quote “I’ve signed, have you?”.
