THE Keneally government is in a stand-off with the Balmain Tigers Leagues Club over the fate of the controversial proposed metro line to Rozelle. The club's chairman, David Trodden, yesterday tried to force the government to commit to the $5.3 billion project by issuing a statement claiming to have received assurances from the office of the Premier, Kristina Keneally, that the Rozelle extension would proceed.

THE cash-strapped Balmain Tigers Leagues Club is set to be sold to a company led by former player Benny Elias, but questions have been raised about the league legend's former role on the club's board and whether he can save it from extinction.

Club members will vote tonight on a proposal to sell the Rozelle premises to a joint venture known as Rozelle Village, of which Mr Elias is a co-director, secretary and shareholder.
