TEAM LIST Round 5 vs. Dolphins

Team List
I wouldn’t call this a must win. It’s actually going to be hard with the short turn around from an emotionally taxing game, plus no Galvin. But we need to maintain the rage. There’s a small part of me that can’t stop thinking this just might be the start of 2018 all over again before we inevitably fade out.

The “usage of only 15 players leading to a more tired team” narrative I’m seeing around about Saturday , seems to me to be not in line with reality .
Whilst yea we did only use 15 players , I noticed Stef in particular had a 4 quarter game . I think klemmer had his game split up into thirds . Pole same as Klem . And Fainu also had 1 long stint .
I thought our interchange rotations were smart .
Stef started , went off , came back , then went off again , for 10 mins then came back .you could say long minutes , but really only the first stint led to extreme fatigue .
I don’t think the rotation would be a negative . The 5 day turn around … yea maybe .

I am not overly confident for this one. The downgrade in our halves and their backline speed could just be the difference. JMK will want to stick it to his brother as well...

They need to earn the right to play on the edges. I think we win the middle and just need players supporting the forwards. Olam for a double.

Sezer's kicking game will be great in the wet. Short turnaround but it's early in the season and they will be on a high. Growing in confidence by the minute.

Popped in at training today.
Olam was not running at full pace, trained a lot by himself, knee not going well today.
When Latu was playing with the main team, Sullivan went to hooker.
That's concerning considering his knee was drained recently but I am no doctor

Big difference from round 2 is Sullivan isn’t the organising half, he has Sezer to run the show and we can get a better idea of his future.
I’m hoping he goes well.
Also
Let’s hope we don’t get any injuries between our 1 to 5 as it will really affect our interchange.

Keeping the opposition to 3 tries in the last fortnight is the most impressive sign for me.

The attack will come.

Big challenge this week to keep those defensive numbers the same. If we can do
that I’d say we definitely can win the game.

Dolphins will be a hard game they go all day they won't break like the Sharks

They have big men who hit hard set after set after set it's their strength and great outside backs who don't need the creative half's to make an opportunity they will do it themselves

Latu has played hooker off the bench for Tonga at Test level.

Or Latu to five-eighth and Sullivan to hooker when/if Api comes off.
Is it correct that a prop is playing Fullback in the 21's this week ?

Nah, Luke Laulilii is making his U/21’s debut at fullback this weekend.

You might be getting mixed up with his brother Kit, who’s a lock/prop.

I expect that the weather will suit us more that the Phins. Sullivan/Latu around waterlogged forwards is a great advantage to us if we can win the middle. While the Phins have some great outside backs their effectiveness will be reduced by the weather and our defence out wide has been pretty good over the last two weeks.

By the same token weather is a great equaliser; as we saw against Penrith last year.

I expect it to be close but the grit we have shown in defence should give us the foundation to work from. If we can win control the ball and rotate our middles well and at the same time rotate Api, Bud and Latu to have fresh legs in attack I think we have an edge. Using Bula up the middle as well in wet conditions could be an Ace.

If the weather is as predicted this game should be won by passes that don't travel much more than a metre!
