That game is still a bit of a sore point. If you look back, there were a couple of games that hurt our chances. The game against Warriors v Panthers where Warriors were well in the lead and on top of that, missed a field goal in extra time when the score was level....and of course, Laurie's dropped pass in front of the posts. I guess 09 was never meant to be.

4 games we lost that we should have won were the games against Bulldogs at ANZ, Souths at SCG, Broncos at Campbelltown and Melbourne in Melbourne. An extra 8 points and we would have made the top 8 easily.

The return to the SCG still rankles with me, Keith Galloway was gone for all money and then the coaching staff put him back on.
This effectively cost us 2 replacements and was the reason why the Tiges ran out of puff with just minutes left.
Yes Merritt's field goal was a miracle but fair dinkum the try that Beau Champion scored was a very ordinary defensive effort from our boys.
Not wanting to place the blame for the game on anyone, but Willie Mataka was seriously overawed by the occasion but the games that really cost us a spot in the Top 8 was our puerile efforts against the Panthers in 2 games in '09.
