I would be interested to know who DIDN'T vote for Leichhardt, and why they didn't.
Tigergran
I didn't vote for Leichhardt, basically because I have never seen a Tigers vs Souths game at Leichhardt but have been to the two games at the SCG (which I did vote for).
I can understand the complaints about the SCG not being the best ground for watching football, it is very true, but there is just something about playing there.
I go to one day of the Sydney cricket test every year and though I have been there for some big moments/games the feeling I got at the first footy game there somehow outweighed the feeling I had at every game of cricket I had ever been to.
I don't know what it is, don't get me wrong I love the atmosphere at Leichhardt (there are few grounds, if any, that have that atmosphere) but I just feel like there is something special about that game at the SCG, maybe it is the history of the games that have been played there throughout the grounds history echoing through to the games now, or maybe it is just me, I don't know. All I know is that it was one of the only footy matches I have ever been to in my then 24 years, now 25 years of life that I felt like I had chills down my spine.
I probably wouldn't mind the game being played at Leichhardt, but for now the SCG is just fine.
I'd be happy to keep a game at the SCG each year but I'd rather it be against the Dragons then the Rabbitohs.

Campbelltown.
Souths have the edge on us everywhere else. In 2008 we need to beat them at Leichhardt to make the semi's and they flogged us.

We've also put 50 past them at all of these grounds except campbo in recent year. Souths are always a hit or miss team against us. When they're on they often win, when nthey're not, we smash em... doesn't matter where we play.
But leichhardt just feels right, and has the best atmosphere...

I voted LO, but more than happy for the game to remain at the SCG....it brings the game and our club so much positive publicity each year, the rugby league media love it

Re: Where would you rather play Souths?
I voted for the SCG - I loved last year and the chance to take my kids onto the hallowed turf where so many great grand finals and cricket matches have been played was something i will never forget and i want to do it again in 2010. I think we can all live with this one historic match each year.
Plus i dont want to be one of the 12,000 people who would be locked out of the ground if we played at Leichhardt. As a fan that would be terrible and i wouldn't want my club to miss out on the opportunity of having 30,000 at the game.
Sorry Tigergran but i just don't want Souths at Leichhardt.

I bet Souths would prefer playing us anywhere but Leichhardt

Re: Where would you rather play Souths?
If we really NEED a win ,Leichardt is by far the toughest environment for Souths to play us..in part because there wont be many of their fans there.
But at maximum capacity of around 20000,LO will miss out on a lot of revenue from fans of both clubs who cant get a ticket.
My guess is that if both teams are travelling well at the time, attendence would easily exceed 40,000 at somewhere like the SCG/Sports Stadium on a Sunday afternoon,& the additional revenue of roughly $300k or so pays an awful lot of our expenses.
Thats why it makes sense to play out of town teams at LO or CO
Guess the Souths v Tigers venue comes down to what a win is worth??
